Sermon Series on Psalm 34 and Psalm 31

Psalm 34 - When you fear the Lord, you have nothing to fear!

This Sunday (September 16th), Lord and Savior Lutheran Church continues a look at the book of Psalms. This week’s services will focus on Psalm 34, a psalm commemorating a time in David’s life when he  "pretended to be insane before Abimelech," king of the Philistine city of Gath (Goliath's hometown).  David realized that he had foolishly put himself in danger.  He recalled the truth that he expressed in the psalm:  "Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him (the Lord)" (Psalm 34:8b).  Pastor David Carlovsky's sermon will have this theme: "WHEN YOU FEAR THE LORD, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR!”

 I. The only thing we have to fear (be scared of) is fear itself

II. The only One we have to fear (revere, honor) is God Himself

Psalm 31 - You're in God's Hands!

The following Sunday (September 23rd) the congregation will highlight Psalm 31, which has “ time” as one of its themes, especially in verse 15: "My times are in your hands.” Pastor Carlovsky’s sermon that day will have a theme  of: "YOU'RE IN GOD'S HANDS!”

I. God gives us a time of grace to believe

II. God gives us time to use our fruits of faith

III. God will give us eternity instead of time
