Sermon Series on Psalm 71 and Psalm 23

Psalm 71 - God is Our Refuge from Age to Age

Psalm 73.jpg

This Sunday  (September 30th), Lord and Savior Ev. Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake will highlight Psalm 71, with its verse:  "Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation...” (verse 18).  Pastor David Carlovsky will focus on two themes from this psalm: first, on God’s timeless righteousness; secondly, the phrase "age to age" will highlight the Lord's blessings to us, whatever age we are (including old age).  The sermon theme will be:   "GOD IS OUR REFUGE FROM AGE TO AGE!"

I. God is our refuge--as we learned in our youth!

II. God is our refuge--even in old age!

Psalm 23 - The Lord is My Shepherd - That’s Enough!

Psalm 23.jpg

The following Sunday (Oct. 7) we will highlight the classic "Good Shepherd" psalm, Psalm 23, with its memorable opening verse:  "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want." (Psalm 23:1). Pastor Carlovsky will use the whole psalm in the service, as a good reminder and review of some great, comforting scriptural truths. The sermon will highlight the fact that the opening verse itself is a great title on its own:  "THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD--THAT'S ENOUGH!”
