Sermon Series on Psalm 47 and 8

Psalm 47 - Sing Praises to Our King!

This week (July 19/22nd) at Lord and Savior Ev. Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Pastor David Carlovsky   will highlight Psalm 47 in his sermon, with special emphasis on verses 6 & 7:  "Sing praises to our King, sing praises.  For God is the King of all the earth." (Psalm 47:6,7).    The sermon will highlight some earthly kings mentioned in the Bible, particularly Sennacherib, the Assyrian Emperor.  He claimed for himself the title, "Great King."  All the great kings are in their graves.  Only the "Greatest King of All" remains and will remain into eternity.  We will be encouraged to never forget what He has done for us and to never forget what He still does for us. The sermon theme will be: "SING PRAISES TO OUR KING!”

I.  ...because of what He has done for us!

II. ...because of what He still does for us!

Psalm 8 - Lord, How Majestic is Your Name!

The following week (July 26/29th), Pastor Carlovsky will speak on Psalm 8 — a psalm that helps us see that our life is overflowing with our Lord's blessings.  It's a psalm that causes us to shout:  "Lord, how majestic is Your name!” (which is the sermon theme). The sermon will address four thoughts about who/what declare His name:

       I. The heavens declare it!

      II. The earth declares it!

     III. Little children declare it!

     IV. Your Son proves it!
