Psalm 85 - Peace: “He Promises Peace to His People!”

This coming Sunday, December 9th, is the second Sunday in Advent. The key word for that service will be "peace.” That Sunday’s sermon will be based on Psalm 85:1-9, with this verse in particular: "I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints" (Psalm 85:8). Pastor David Carlovsky’s sermon theme will be taken from the psalm:  PEACE: "HE PROMISES PEACE TO HIS PEOPLE!"

Matthew 1 - Mary and Joseph: “His Obedient Servants”

Mt1.21.jpg

Lord and Savior will again be offering midweek Advent Vespers services on the Wednesday evenings leading up to Christmas. This year the theme of these services will be “People of Advent." For the second Wednesday-evening Advent Service (December 12th),  we will consider the expectant parents, Mary and Joseph.  The sermon will consider the Advent portion of their story, particularly the visit to each by an angel.

The sermon theme will be:

MARY AND JOSEPH: HIS OBEDIENT SERVANTS (Matthew 1:18-21)

Children’s Christmas Service - “Children of the Heavenly Father”

The next Sunday (December 16th) morning service will be the Children's Christmas Service at 9:00 AM, held in the gym.  The service will be followed by a brunch (served by the congregation’s Sisters in Christ) and a cookie walk with Christmas cookies.   (Baked by school/church families and available for a free-will donation.)   The service theme is:  "Children of the Heavenly Father."  We welcome family and friends, guests and visitors, to this special service of worship and praise, honoring the celebration of Christ's birth.   The children in word and song will be leading us in worship.

Matthew 3 - John the Baptist: “The Voice”

Matthew 3.jpg

The third and final Wednesday-evening Advent service will reflect on the miraculous birth, ministry, and preaching career of John the Baptist as the forerunner for the Savior. As a text, Pastor Carlovsky will use a portion of how John the Baptist came to "prepare the way" from Matthew's gospel... even as he quotes Isaiah.

For Advent Vespers sermon, we will consider:

JOHN THE BAPTIST: "THE VOICE"  (Matthew 3:1-3)
