Sermon Series on Psalm 130:5 and 85:8

Psalm 130:5 - Wait in Hope!

Psalm 130.jpg

This coming Sunday, December 2nd, is the first Sunday in Advent. Lord and Savior will be following a program called C18 (for Christmas 2018) during this season. (More info available at https://welscongregationalservices.net/c18-worship-planning/ )The series theme is:  "He Comes, Bearing Gifts.” Each Sunday will highlight a single word; for our service on the 2nd of December, the word is "hope." The key verse for that first Advent sermon, using the psalm for that Sunday, is this:  "I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope" (Psalm 130:5). Pastor David Carlovsky's sermon will highlight the words "wait" and "hope."   Those who wait on the Lord… "WAIT IN HOPE!"

Luke 1:5-15a - “Zechariah and Elizabeth

Lord and Savior will be offering three Advent Vespers services on Wednesday evenings (at 7:00pm) during the season of Advent. This year the theme of these services will be “People of Advent." For the first service (December 5th), we will consider the old priest and his wife, Zechariah and Elizabeth, whose miracle baby, John the Baptist, was the forerunner of Jesus Christ.  The sermon will consider their story as found in Luke 1:5-15a. The sermon theme will be, simply:  "ZECHARIAH AND ELIZABETH.”

Psalm 85:8 - Peace: He Promises Peace to His People!

For the second Advent Sunday, December 9th, the key word is "peace.” That Sunday’s sermon will be based on Psalm 85:1-9, with this verse in particular: "I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints" (Psalm 85:8). Pastor Carlovsky’s sermon theme will be taken from the psalm:  PEACE: "HE PROMISES PEACE TO HIS PEOPLE!"

Matthew 1:18-21 - Mary and Joseph: His Obedient Servants

For the second Wednesday evening Advent Service on December 12th,  we will consider the expectant parents, Mary and Joseph.  The sermon will consider the Advent portion of their story, particularly the visit to each by an angel.  The sermon theme will be:  MARY AND JOSEPH: HIS OBEDIENT SERVANTS (Matthew 1:18-21)
